Home Time Management information is literally everywhere.
Think about it… today, in addition to the old fashioned problem-solving approach of talking with family and friends about our home time management issues, we now have a plethora of other potential avenues from which we can find help such as:
- TV Shows
If you’ve been serious about getting your time management at home under control for more than a day then I’m sure you’re acquainted with some… or probably all… of the above.
BUT… has it worked? Have you gotten control of your home time management yet?
OR… are you like many others who suffer from information overload. It’s a very common problem with a (kinda) cool name.
Simply put… Information overload occurs when you continue to collect information even after you’ve gathered what you need to know in order to solve your problem…
Does This Sound Even Remotely Familiar?
Even though we’re all focused on solving different problems, information overload is something we ALL struggle with from time to time. The important thing is to get past it and into the necessary action-phase.
Some people… myself included… absolutely LOVE learning. I would rather grab a book and learn something new than watch TV any day. And, let’s face it, it’s HARD to stop sometimes especially when you’re really interested in something.
In your case you may be absolutely positive that that perfect tip, that perfect idea that’s going to make your life “slow down” is just around the corner and so you obsessively keep peeking around that corner (looking for more info) instead of taking that single tip you picked up yesterday and figuring out how you can incorporate it into your lifestyle.
Is This What’s Holding You Back From Creating Change in Your Life with Your Home Time Management?
I have no doubt that the amount of time we… as a whole… spend on all of this information gathering can be staggering. It can also prevent you from creating any real and lasting change because you’re so busy picking up new tips and tricks that you then don’t actually have the time to implement any of those tips and tricks.
In other words, you can’ t put anything into action.
Now let me ask you this… if you don’t put into action any of this stuff you’re learning, then what good is it doing?
Seriously, you’re spending probably a large portion of your disposable time trying to solve problems that you don’t end up getting around to solving. But, it’s not for a lack of information, is it?
So… What’s the Solution?
Glad you asked!
The first thing is to learn how to take “head knowledge” and turn it into action. Without action nothing gets… well, DONE.
Stop reading, studying, and searching and tell yourself you’re going to put what you know into action.
Finally… Results-Oriented Home Time Management Programs?
It’s not that any other blog, website, or book isn’t good. There are definitely some good ones… I know, I have a couple more. (You can check out my other sites “There Must be a Better Way” and “Time Management and Students.”)
The problem stems from the focus being on the “Solution” and not the “Action Plan” that’s required to reach that ideal solution.
That was such a subtle play on words that I’ll feel free to elaborate.
Here are examples of some common “Solutions” people (including myself) throw around and you’ll see how the “Action Plan” part of the equation is missing.
Solution #1: Find time for yourself (alone time)
Action Plan #1: Purposefully arrange your life so as to make time for yourself…
Solution #2: Feel more in control of your life
Action Plan #2: Create a step-by-step plan for taking control of your life…
Solution #3: Get kids to help with chores
Action Plan #3: Figure out what your kids are capable of (hint: it’s WAY more than you can imagine) and then figure out how to help them WANT to help…
Solution #4: Serve healthy meals your family will love
Action Plan #4: Create and use menus (based on your family’s tastes) to eradicate “Mealtime Madness”…
Solution #5: Spend more time with your spouse and kids (while they still want to)
Action Plan #5: Carefully plan this time into each and every week…
Solution #6: Cut your time cooking in half… or more
Action Plan #6: Thinking and planning ahead will maximize the time you already spend in the kitchen and allow you nights off each and every week…
Solution #7: Get control over your home time management problems
Action Plan #7: Break each problem down, create a step-by-step approach to fixing it, then… fix it…
Are you getting a good idea of why you still feel overwhelmed?

A few last thoughts… all of these programs are designed to get results and get them quick… IF YOU DO THE WORK.
Also, chew on this… if you wanted to learn to do something in the quickest and best way possible… swim, sew, play an instrument, or sing… would you try to muddle through on your own? Or would you realize the value of hiring an expert… a coach who specializes in that area.
